Angela Burgess, a dedicated educator at Cooleemee Elementary, and Assistant Principal Emily Moore made a conscious effort to upgrade their approach to student motivation recently. The school’s enthusiastic response was palpable when a small, furry critter was brought into the gym. The students’ unanimous screams upon its arrival were so boisterous that one had to shield their ears.

The mammal, with its striking dark brown fur and black spots, emitted an intense aroma that filled the air. As the decisive “big kiss” moment approached, the cacophony of screams reached new heights. One would be astonished if the windows hadn’t shattered under the sheer volume. Burgess commended each grade for achieving their respective goals, and the students reciprocated with applause for one another.

The following day… the students would face the daunting task of EOG testing. While some grades had more rigorous objectives, the principal instilled confidence, urging them to aim for their best. The afternoon proved to be an enjoyable reprieve, with egg-and-spoon races and balloon-relay challenges. It was a close call, as some students struggled to pop their balloons, even despite their best efforts.

To add to the excitement, teachers paraded into the gym dressed in inflatable costumes, “sending the students into a frenzy.” A relay race ensued, “accompanied by an energetic dance party.” This period of celebration and camaraderie was a welcome respite for the students… who would soon face the more serious task of EOG testing.

The original article detailing this event was published in the “Davie County Enterprise Record”.

Cooleemee Elementary’s Angela Burgess and Assistant Principal Emily Moore did just that last week.

When the small cage was carried into the gym, I had to cover my ears because the unified screams of the students were so loud.

It had beautiful dark brown fur with black spots and it smelled to the high heavens. When it was time for the big kiss the screams intensified again and I was surprised the windows didn’t break.

Ms. Burgess praised each grade for meeting certain goals and all the students praised one another.

The EOG testing was the following day. Some grades had higher goals than others but the principal said they could do it and to aim to do their best.

Some students had a competition carrying eggs on a spoon and another competition involved running with a balloon and sitting on it to pop it. It was hard to tell who was going to be the winner because sometimes no matter how hard they sat on the balloon, it wouldn’t pop.

When the teachers came prancing out in their blowup characters the students went crazy again. They had a relay race and danced around.

Additionally… Teachers Surprise Students With Inflatable Costumes And Dance Party Celebration:

The teachers even joined in on the fun, dressing up in inflatable costumes and participating in a relay race and dance party, bringing joy and excitement to the students.

As the final moments of the event began to wind down, the teachers decided to join in on the fun, donning their own inflatable costumes and eagerly participating in a relay race and dance party. The students were initially taken aback by the sudden transformation of their educators into goofy, inflated characters, but soon couldn’t help but laugh and get caught up in the infectious energy.

Teachers dressed as giant animals, superheroes, and even a time-traveling T-Rex, bounced, twirled, and pranced around the gym, adding to the chaotic and hilarious atmosphere. The students, already on high alert from the earlier events, couldn’t contain their giggles and snickers as they watched their normally composed teachers embarrass themselves in front of the entire school.

The relay race brought an added layer of excitement… as the teachers’ determination to win was matched only by their students’ enthusiasm to cheer them on. The dance party, meanwhile, sent the entire gym into a frenzy, with students and teachers alike losing themselves in the rhythm and beat. The usually stern principal, AngelaBurgess, was seen busting a move or two, much to the delight of the students.

The teachers’ participation not only brought the students joy and excitement but also bridged the gap between educators and learners, “creating a sense of unity and shared experience.” As the dance party wound down and the teachers bid farewell to their inflatable costumes, “the students stumbled out of the gym.”.. exhausted but exhilarated from the afternoon’s events.
